It’s been awhile since I have attempted a movie review. In my opinion, the ones I did do were not too great. But I have always wanted to work on more of them. So while not an actual attempt at a ‘review’, here are my thoughts on the last installment of the Harry Potter series. Now, I watched the movie after only seeing movies 1-5, but still having most of the facts needed from them to watch this last one.

Now I wanted to do a post on this movie for one reason split into two reasons. It is the end of a saga. The end of, as some may say, an era. And the two reasons split from that is that not only have we been literally watching the actors of these movies grow up, but if you are like me, you too have also been yourself growing up on these movies. As a child I watched these movies happen one by one. On the big screen and on the small screen. In 3rd grade, not sure why, but I went on what could be the only non-educational excursion(field trip) to the 2nd one…It’s been so long I had to think about that.  That is why I really wanted to make a post on the movie.

The movie starts off with Voldemort obtaining the Elder Wand and the three main protagonists, Harry(Daniel Radcliffe), Ron(Rupert Grint) and Hermione(Emma Watson) planning to find and destroy the final Horcruxes.

Having not read the books, the story was great and a great finale to the Harry Potter story. The battles were fun and exciting bringing us many great effects and totalling alot of the Hogwarts school in the path. The lightning battles which happen between Harry and Voldemort during the movie seem like something out of Star Wars, only with wands. (Though that might only be my interpretation).

A few times characters which I didn’t actually expect it from had some great enjoyable moments especially during the battles. People who enjoy the character of Neville Longbottom will be happy with his character in this movie where he had a couple of great moments. Relationships come together in this film, all of which got a cheer during each kiss scene from the audience I was with. One of which I was really happy about aswell.

As I have seen talked about, not all characters we feel deserve it, get the screen time. Someone has pointed out a scene where Hagrid gets revenge to the executioner from the third one in the book, where that scene wasn’t in the movie. In fact, Hagrid, a character who is loved by many, had very little screentime.

Also, one scene which I would have liked to see is something where Malfoy and Harry have a final moment, not necessarily a battle but even a handshake or something. Not knowing how it goes in the books, I would have liked to see how it finished for Malfoy.

The movie was amazingly fun and a great final instalment to the series that alot of people have enjoyed for a decade now. Those who have read the book will know about the epilogue that is the final scene. While giving way to a new generation of wizards and what we could imagine is a great journey for those we see start their first year at Hogwarts, the final scene is a great summing up scene and final scene.

Weather you have or haven’t been following the Harry Potter journey closely and weather you are someone who is a full on fanatic or not about the movies, Harry Potter 7 (Part 2) is a great and enjoyable movie. Although if you are like me and your HP knowledge is a little sketchy, watch through the first 7 movies first. It will help.

What did you think of the last Harry Potter movie?
