To Be Continued…

Tomorrow I graduate from my time at high school which encompasses grades 7-12 of my schooling. I figured this would be a good point to do a reflective piece, something I am quite keen on doing as a learning and reflecting opportunity. I figured I would come at this from three angles; Personal, Intellectual and Spiritual.

From a personal level I have been told and also noticed that I have  matured greatly. Developing new techniques and ways in life to better relate to my peers and develop friends. I have also had people over the last few years try and help me develop ways to lead a more positive life. Not just thinking everything sucks and what if’s etc but looking at what I have got, enjoying it and looking towards the positive side to things rather than just developing a metaphorical pro/con list full of cons. Last year I thought living an optimistic life would be complete nonsense, that life is just a series of disappointments. Rather life is what you make it and can also be effected by the attitude you have. Over at least the last nearly half a year I have developed a more positive side to life, sure I used to laugh at jokes and smile when funny things happened but now I am able to do it for no reason and get excited over things I wouldn’t have before. Now I just need to work on smiling in photos(I am told). But who ever gets a good photo?

From an intellectual standpoint over the last 6 years I have developed some new methods of motivation which have probably not helped me in school but have helped in my hobbies, E.G. learning to draw.  These methods are just finding times I am better able to work or finding a reward for getting something done. I have also had many different topics of interest; drawing, music, business, IT and writing. To this day my interest in business has lessened, although still lingers and I haven’t drawn in a number of months although it still remains a possibility. I have always had stories developing in my head so writing will happen one day and I continue my love for music by playing my guitar on a regular basis and loving it. IT will probably end up being a main focus when I leave school as I have been doing aspects of computing for the last 5 years. So without knowing what my interests will be in a year, two years or even ten years I love what am currently doing.

Lastly on a spiritual level. For the last 4 years I have been attending youth groups, bible studies and 2 years ago making a commitment towards my Christian faith. I may falter in this part of my life at times but I believe that my Christian life has also contributed to who I am and how I have lived the last 4 years.

I have developed greatly over the last 6 years of high school and look forward to future developing in many ways in life, however different or the same I may be in a year, two years etc.

So to all my graduating friends in the class of Year 12 for 2011, I hope you find a path in life that you enjoy. I hope you develop positive relationships and hold onto the ones you made in you time at high school. I hope there have been some skills you have learned in high school which can be applied to life in some way, shape or form in a good way. Good luck in the future and I hope to hear from you all to find out where you are at.

To my younger, still in high school friends who still have a year or more left, enjoy it. Work hard but at your own pace, which is somewhat how I worked. Take life into your own hands and I hope you all make something great of it.

Now I know some people who would look at a post like this with advice for the future and all like I have posted and think it is complete nonsense. To those people I wish the same things as above but also that they realise it like I have. I have had friends leave high school and become successful, doing what they wanted in life and making something great with it. Not everything is possible but if I have learned one thing it is that anything is possible.

Now I am off to lay in bed and probably not sleep with anticipation for tomorrow dawns the moment this year has been working towards…

Back in the day…

Today I went and treated myself to a couple of fun and awesome Nerf guns. Aside from providing entertainment they also provided a moment of reminiscing. Back in I think 2003, Scott Kurtz of PvPonline started having his comics published by Image Comics. The first story was a Nerf gun war happening within the office the comic strip is based in. It was a fun story, among others, in the comic strip and I enjoyed it quite abit as a kid. Gets me thinking I actually grew up on PvP, among other comic strips such as Calvin and Hobbes and the usual popular comic strips. Gets me thinking it’s fun to look back and remember the things we were really into especially as kids and in our youth. I guess I am just someone who enjoys nostalgia.

Speaking of growing up and youth, I have 3 days left of high school. I’m hoping to do a blog about that momentous occasion so keep an eye out.

Why I Am Now Interested in the Upcoming ‘The Ultimate Spider-Man’ Animated Series

I felt some disappointment upon the news that the Spider-man cartoon ‘The Spectacular Spider-Man’ got cancelled. This disappointment led to me initially not wanting the new series that was announced, ‘The Ultimate Spider-man’, the series somewhat inspired by the comic book series of the same name.

At first there were two names attached to this new animated series that got me interested. Brian Michael Bendis, writer of the comic book series ‘The Ultimate Spider-Man’ is writing and producing the new animated series. I love Brian’s work on the comic book to which I believe I would enjoy the writing of the new series. Next was the revelation that J.K Simmons is voicing J. Jonah Jameson, the high tempered boss at the Daily Bugle. I have found Simmons to be one of the best J. Jonah’s that I have seen so I was really excited for him to reprise that role.

There have been some more cast members announced. Among the list of talent they have lined up for the new series, the role of the title character has gone to Drake Bell. Now I really enjoyed the work of Josh Keaton on the last series, ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’. Before him, I found Neil Patrick Harris did a good job as an older Peter Parker in the 2003 ‘Spider-Man: The New Animated Series’. I wish there was more of both those series’, but now let’s see how the new series goes with Drake.

Drake, who is probably best known from his old TV show ‘Drake and Josh’ I feel could voice a good high-school aged Peter Parker, so I am interested to see where the series goes with this new incarnation, and how Drake goes voicing my favourite web-slinger.
